ABSTRACT. In two-dimensional photoelasticity the fringe order is
well-known. In this paper the fringe order is extended for use in
integrated photoelasticity. This extensions gives the possibility
to measure the fringe order experimentally and calculate it
theoretically. However, in some cases the fringe order does not
exist. Also, the influence of the divergence of the light beam in
integrated photoelasticity has been estimated and ususally it
does not influence the experimental results. A method to
determine the zero order fringe in axisymmetric objects is
described for the case, when the object and the immersion fluid
have different refractive indexes.
