Title: Intermediate background in problems of sound waves scattering by elastic shells. 27 p.
Language: English
ABSTRACT. A new type of intermediate background is introduced, proved and
its efficiency is demonstrated in problems of acoustic waves scattering by
empty elastic shells. The liquid shell obtained from the elastic one at c
0 (here c is transverse velocity in the elasticity theory) is used as a
background. It is shown that from the proposed background by limit
transitions the standard acoustic hard and soft backgrounds can be
received. The intermediate background permits one to isolate sharply the
resonance components of partial modes. The formulae for intermediate
background are given for spherical and cylindrical shells. The fitness of
the background is shown on problems of sound scattering by shells of
spherical shape in a broad range of the physical parameters of the
problem.
