Golly Speaker: Charalampos Zinoviadis Abstract: Initially developed by Andrew Trevorrow and Thomas Rokicki, Golly is an open source application for exploring Conway's Game of Life and other cellular automata. Equipped with a large library of cellular automata rules and GoL configurations, it also uses clever hashing algorithms to speed up the simulation. In this talk, we will first explain the basic interface of Golly by simulating sme classical CA rules, and after that we will deal more with the Game of Life. We will see examples of guns, gliders, puffers, sawteeth, oscillators and methuselah and other types of patterns.
