MOBILE PHONE NETWORK SIMULATION

HEAD OF THE PROJECT Vahur KOTKAS

MOBILE PHONE NETWORK SIMULATOR

is a package that describes base station, radio channel and power selection properties of a mobile phone. It helps user to understand what takes place in the mobile phone world and why sometimes bad connection quality or calldrops happen.

SCHEMA EDITOR

is a powerful tool for visual programming, where in this particular case we can specify the statical part of our mobile phone network model i.e. find places for base stations, roads (main traffic lines), number of mobile phones and their starting positions in the area.

The GRAPHICS EDITOR

is used for visualisation of processes running during the simulation. The circles around base stations show normal quality and maximum range for keeping connection wih normal equipment. The lines show which base station the mobile phone has selected and the circle around the mobile phone describes the transmit power level to keep satisfiable connection.

During the simulation we can find "bad places" i.e. areas which are purely covered by base stations and where the insatisfiable connection quality and calldrops are going to happen.
